What the Hell Happened to California?!

With so much to offer in natural resources and perfect weather California should be the most desirable state to live in, yet hundreds of thousands are fleeing every year.
A state that voted for Ronald Reagan, has now become a bastion of socialism. It is solely run by Democrats and although they claim to be proponents of ”equality“, their policies have produced just the opposite.
California is the capitol of the leftist experiment, so why is it that everything they claim they want to fix has gotten worse over the decades? For one, the amount of government programs attracts people to come and take advantage of the tax payer dollar. Each year millions of people come here illegally and one of the first things they do is have kids and expect the government to subsidize them- because they will. They utilize tax payer funded healthcare, food stamps, welfare, housing, education, etc. If they’re imprisoned tax payers front the bill. We often hear “they do the work Americans won’t do”. But at what cost? Lowering the wages of Americans. Essentially, the money they suck out of the government over extends anything they may contribute.
The amount California pays out in welfare benefits exceeds Oregon, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Hawaii combined.
The homeless problem in California has also gotten worse year after year. The more money leftist politicians have thrown at the problem the worse it has gotten. Again, more government programs create more people coming into California to take advantage of the freebies, plain and simple. Ronald Reagan once said “government is not the solution to the problems it IS the problem“. Boy was he right.
But these Democrats in California go unchecked in regards to their failed policies. Instead of addressing what is going wrong they simply double down, increase taxes and continue playing the same game. They have a monopoly on the entire state so who is going to challenge them?
One of the things people hate to talk about are the California pensions. Because people have so-called ‘earned’ them it doesn’t mean it’s not a flawed system, because it is. It is making California broke. In 2018, 20% of pension recipients received an all time high of $100,000 or more. $39 billion in tax payer dollar was paid out to pension recipients. It was double that of what was payed out in 2013.
Californians don’t seem to understand the magnitude of what is going on in their state. As they continue to elect Democrats the state continues to sink and sink. Ironically, the debt is going to sink California into the pacific before climate change ever will. The governors and many city officials refuse to follow federal immigration laws then they expect the federal government to bail them out when they’ve gone broke. It is outrageous. But it won’t end until Californians have decided they have had enough.
